Kevin Smith Announces the Supporting Cast of Zack & Miri Make a Porno

Kevin Smith's Zack & Miri Make a Porno already had a strong leading pair with 2007's biggest new comedy star Seth Rogen and the funny pretty girl from every other comedy of the past few years Elizabeth Banks. Now word comes that Smith has cast Craig Robinson (the hilarious Darryl on NBC's The Office), adult film stars Traci Lords and Katie Morgan, as well as Ricky Mabe (Beautiful People), and ViewAskewniverse regular Jeff Anderson (Clerks).

The film focuses on the two titular friends finding themselves making an amateur adult film in order to alleviate their considerable debts. As they enlist the help of their friends and begin making the film, they discover new feelings for one another. The Weinstein Co. is financing. Smith will direct from his own screenplay.

For the Movie trailer see the previous post.

Win for Zack and Miri Make a Porno atMPAA Appeal

Kevin Smith is victorious! The filmmaker, who had been given an NC-17 rating by the MPAA for his new film Zack and Miri Make a Porno, was forced to take the decision to the appeal process.

The rating would have prohibited anyone younger than 17 years old from seeing the movie, even when accompanied by an adult. The rating also would have prevented the film from being advertised in certain places and during certain times. Basically, The Weinstein Co probably wouldn’t have released the movie as an NC-17, because, of course, they need to make their money back.

So Smith brought the film to an appeals board, who gave the film a revised rating of Restricted! This is a huge victory for Smith. The film will be going out uncut and uncensored! (note: but uncensored and uncut, I actually mean as the latest cut he had handed into the MPAA)

It seems clear to me that any adult would understand the risk of bringing a minor to a movie with the word “porno” in the title. And besides, it is far from a porno - it’s a comedy. Sure it has nudity, but it is far from anything that can be viewed on Saturday late-night on HBO.

DragonBall The Movie

ComingSoon.net has learned that 20th Century Fox will debut the first trailer for Dragonball in theaters on October 17 with the studio’s video game adaptation Max Payne, starring Mark Wahlberg, on October 17. We’ll have to wait and see whether Fox will release the trailer online earlier that week.

The first teaser trailer for the live-action feature film version of Dragonball will reportedly hit theaters in October. A studio source informed IGN that, while Oct. 17 is Fox’s “target date,” nothing is guaranteed until the special effects and requisite approvals are in place.

Don LaFontaine: The Voice

As a follow up to the post about Don's Death, i found this awesome vid at youtube and wanted to share it with you all.

750,000 television spots, 5,000 movie trailers, 1 voice, Don LaFontaine has the most recognizable voice in the game right now. Here is the legend's story told by none other than the legend himself.

Movie trailers KING, Don LaFontaine died at the age of 68.

Don LaFontaine, the man who provided the sonorous voice for more than 5,000 movie trailers, died Monday 1 Sep at age 68.

LaFontaine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from a collapsed lung. He had been taken to the hospital Aug. 22 with a blood clot in the lung.

LaFontaine was known as the "king of the movie trailers," having done the trailer voiceovers for films such as Terminator, Fatal Attraction, Cheaper by the Dozen, Batman Returns and his personal favourite, The Elephant Man.

His baritone voice and melodramatic delivery are famously associated with the oft-repeated movie trailer phrase, "In a world…"

LaFontaine also did thousands of television commercials, network promotions, video game trailers and other spots.

He told Entertainment magazine he did more than 60 such promotions a week, and at one point was famous for having a driver take him from studio to studio to save time finding parking.

With the advent of digital recording that could be sent from a home studio, he began recording spots in his Hollywood Hills home.

LaFontaine worked for every major U.S. network, including NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox and UPN, in addition to TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network.

He did voiceovers on shows as diverse as the 79th Annual Academy Awards, America's Most Wanted and Entertainment Tonight.

He also did spots for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonalds, Coke and many other corporate sponsors, according to his website.

LaFontaine will live for ever to all of us and by his actress-singer wife, Nita Whitaker, and three children.
